While fishing in late August, Mark's leg was grazed by an errant hook casted by his friend while fly fishing. Unbeknownst to poor Mark, that hook sent a bacteria into his bloodstream that would attack his prosthetic knee.
After a grueling evening of monitoring his High School's football game as everyone's favorite Vice-Principal, he woke up the next morning with terrible pain & swelling surrounding his knee. To make matters worse the same friend from fishing suggested he use a TENS machine (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) which sent the bacteria into hyperdrive and Mark was no longer able to walk.
An emergency surgery was required to remove parts of his prosthetic knee while the surgeons also scrubbed the titanium parts with Lysol and a wire brush at Garnet Health Medical Center.
Mark is in recovery but has a long road ahead of him of not working but sitting around all day while he mainlines antibiotics in his arm like a junkie and watches college volleyball.
